Sauk City, Wisconsin-based Quartz Health Solutions, Inc.the biggest health maintenance organization in the state, announced today the launch of two new health insurance products aimed at populations facing barriers to care.
The new product, a Medicare Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (DSNP) and supplemental security income Medicaid product (SSI), was launched this month in Milwaukee, Dane and La Crosse Counties.
“The residents eligible for these programs face some of the greatest barriers to positive health outcomes in our service area,” said Mark Selna, president and chief executive officer of Quartz. “Many of those within this population are likely to be struggling with homelessness, poverty, mental illness or a substance use disorder. Many may have disabilities. We hope these new products can help make high-quality health care a reality for these populations that need it most.”
The new DSNP product, the Quartz Dual Eligible plan, is available for eligible members who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid. The plans will allow members to retain Medicaid coverage while gaining additional benefits such as dental coverage and a quarterly over-the-counter allowance at no additional cost. Quartz Dual Eligible plans will offer a zero-dollar premium and no cost-share.
Members will also have access to Quartz Champion, a personalized, hands-on concierge service, according to the organization. Once a person becomes a member, a Health Risk Assessment is completed so Quartz can help manage their care.
The new Medicaid SSI plan is eligible for those who are 65 or older or children and adults who are blind or disabled and receive supplemental security income.
In addition to the new plan offerings, Quartz has expanded the footprint of its BadgerCare Plus plan to reach more eligible Wisconsin residents. Effective Jan. 1, Quartz BadgerCare Plus now includes Chippewa, Eau Claire, Walworth, and Wood counties.
With this expansion, Quartz is certified to cover BadgerCare Plus members in 26 Wisconsin counties. In 2022, Quartz – jointly owned by Advocate Aurora Health, Gundersen Health System, UnityPoint Health and UW Health – served approximately 50,000 members through the BadgerCare Plus program.
